Double Win To Kick Start The Season
The 2004 WinterGuard United Kingdom season started on Sunday 11th January in Stourbridge in the West Midlands and our two older Guards made the journey north.
The A Class Guard, performing to Big Yellow Taxi, were the first to perform and looked like they were having a ball. Whilst the 7 members performance was still a little untidy they were by far the best unit in their class and were placed 1st - nearly 4 points clear of the unit in 2nd place.
The Seniors had worked hard following the Preview Evening a week before and looked like a different group of people. Competing against all 8 of the other Open Class units the 19 members received a great reaction from the audience for their Spanish Caravan production and came out on top taking place but with only 0.2 points in it!!!!
Long time to go yet and whilst two wins at the first contest is a magnificent start the staff of both Guards know that this only makes the job harder over the next 10 weeks or so.
Congratulations to all on a great start and all four Guards will be in action at the SK sponsored contest in Burgess Hill on Sunday 25th January.
